Palo Verde Lounge
Welcome to Palo Verde Lounge, a hidden gem nestled at 1015 W Broadway Rd in Tempe, Arizona. Renowned as one of the "diviest dive bars" in town, Palo Verde has earned its place as a beloved local landmark, attracting patrons with its distinctive atmosphere and rich tapestry of history. If you’re looking for a relaxed vibe away from the mainstream glitz, this is your spot.
Walking into Palo Verde, you’re greeted by a cozy and intimate setting. The decor gives off a “grungy” charm—think warped pool tables, a lively jukebox, and the intoxicating smell of microwaved pizza wafting through the air. A haven for music enthusiasts, the lounge hosts an eclectic array of talent, from killer metal bands to underground punk acts, making it a hotspot for discovering new sounds.
Food Highlights:
- Salads: The Strawberry Salmon Salad is a refreshing blend of succulent salmon, sweet strawberries, and crunchy candied pecans drizzled with bleu cheese. If comfort food is more your style, the Crispy Chicken Salad won't disappoint with its hearty combination of crispy chicken, egg, bacon, cheese, and tomato.
- Entrees: For a casual snack, the Shrimp Cocktail offers ten jumbo shrimp served with zesty cocktail sauce, while the Chips, Salsa & Guacamole are perfect for sharing (or not!).
- A la Carte: Don’t overlook the classic French fries and sweet potato fries, both affordable and satisfying steal; indulge your cravings at $4 and $5 respectively.
Catering to a laid-back crowd, Palo Verde welcomes visitors with open arms, evidenced by the friendly bartenders and accommodating staff. Patrons continuously praise their generous service—the ice-cold drinks are reasonably priced, enticing you to stay a little longer and make new friends over a game of pinball or a heartwarming conversation.
Community Vibes:
Palo Verde Lounge isn't just a bar; it's a community hub where regulars hold court and newcomers are often welcomed after a few friendly nods. It's a place where the lines between service and camaraderie blur, creating a warm, inviting environment, even amidst the "dive" aesthetics.

Unbelievable.. Many or some might not agree with this, but this bar is ‘perfect’. In my opinion. It’s just the best dive bar I could have hoped to find. CASH ONLY. Quiet, local, grungy, please don’t change. Thank you for being, and staying here.

This... is a dive bar. In fact, it's the diviest dive bar in Tempe. It's small, windowless, dark and literally 10 feet away from a head shop/liquor store. It's got warped pool tables, a loud old-fashioned jukebox, and weird microwaved slices of pizza for sale. It's amazing. Definitely a... landmark here; it's not for everybody. In fact, the regulars may glare at newcomers. But if you work through it and establish yourself, the Palo Verde can be a place for the people.
